Addressing Other Ocean Threats:

Fishing responsibly is one part of the solution to improving Hawaii's nearshore ocean. We are addressing other threats through watershed programs, which reduce erosion into streams and onto reefs; invasive algae clean-ups, which remove harmful alien algae from nearshore waters; and through Makai Watch, local community partnerships to manage coastal resources, enforce existing laws, and educate ocean users about best practices.
